Abdullah Gül University (AGU) was awarded the first prize in the "Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership" category of the Times (Times Higher Education) Asia 2023 Awards, known as the "Oscars of Higher Education".
The 2023 Times Asia Awards were announced at the Asian Universities Summit held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
AGU, which was nominated for the Asian awards with its multidimensional approach to climate change and its strategy to achieve excellence, first made it to the finals and then won the 1st prize as a result of the evaluation.
Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz said that as Abdullah Gül University, they were nominated for the Times Asian Awards and won the first place with their studies and projects such as Strategic Plan, Climate Action Plan (CAP), Zero Waste and Smart Building (LEED) Certificate, ISO 14064:2018 Certificate.
Stating that they aim to integrate environmental and social impact to a higher level and integrate it with education with the Innovative University Model, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz noted that they have implemented various projects, teaching and research practices to increase citizens' awareness of the environment. Prof. Yılmaz said, "We are taking concrete and strong steps towards our goal."
